How points are scored:
The Shifty Fifty Format
Each event in the Shifty Fifty event series offers 50km (approx.) courses. Some courses will have up to 2 laps of a course and each lap may differ.
Events now offer a Shifty Short option which is approx. 20 to 30km course but does not count for series points.

There are 5 rounds in the 2020 series and all rounds count towards your series result

• Junior Under 18: Male and Female
• Open 18 to 39: Male and Female
• Masters 40 and over: Male and Female
• E-Bike Open (Men and women combined)
The Points
1st – 80, 2nd 65, 3rd 55, 4th 48, 5th 43, 6th 38, 7th 33, 8th 29, 9th 25, 10th 22, 11th 20, 12th 19, 13th 18, 14th 17, 15th 16 and 16th to last all get 15 points each.
Did not finish (DNF) will get 15 points
Did not start (DNS) will get 0
Prizes
At each round: 1st, 2nd and 3rd in every category will be awarded the Sunflower Maids trophy or Medal. Any on the day prizes is up to the individual event host.

Age Calculation for categories
Age will be taken as the day after of the last event in the series – Sunday 14th June 2020
E-Bike Policy
In 2020 E-Bikes have a race category and will be racing amongst all other normal bikes. They can start at either the Gun time or after 10:05 if they choose.
How the Start works
Very unique to the Shifty Fifty series is our ‘Choose Your Start Time’ procedure. Be you there to race for the many sheep stations or just wanting to challenge yourself this system is great for you.
10:00 am – Gun Time race start
In this start all riders get the same start time, so be you start on the front line or back of the pack your start time is 10am
10:05 to 10:15 – Rolling start
In this start all riders get a start time based on the chip read from the RFID timing chip, get the details here. So their finish time is accurately calculated by the difference between the two. So start either at 10:05 or

There is NO need to purchase any day permits or insurance for the Shifty Fifty Series. The price is all inclusive.

Insurance at Shifty Fifty Events
All of the event hosts carry a public liability policy allowing the events to be hosted. The riders do not get any personal medical, equipment or ongoing injury cover from this. Riders are encouraged to have at a minimum Ambulance Victoria membership and should consider private health or income protection insurance when being part of the sport of cycling.
At the current time the MTBA membership will give you some increased medical cover for a major incident with ongoing costs even in NON MTBA sanctioned events.
