The 50km course at Buxton is made up of 2 different loops. Each uses a fire road circuit external to the park and then trails within the park but they are different.
So let’s look at LOOP 1 – ALSO THE Shifty Shorty loop
It starts with a bit of a fire road climb (to warm you up a bit), then some undulations around the pine plantations with some pretty stunning views before you descend down to do a HOT lap of the trails.
It’s heaps of fun and at 24.75 km spot on for a quick bottle change and feed at the Buxton MTB park trailhead before you start loop 2

LOOP 2
From the trailhead, you continue on the single track for a few kms before popping back out into the fire roads. This time though you don’t do the big climb, instead of a more gradual one. It’s a similar set of roads to the first loop with some variation taking you back to the same single-track exit/entry point. but now you are doing it ALL.
Yes, the less-ridden Boobrock loop, off-camber, and its full snakes and ladders. At 24.75kms, add a bit of GPS inaccuracy and you are spot-on for a fantastic 50kms at Buxton
Shifty Smally
A full single trap loop of the Buxton MTB Park so juniors can be part of the action without all the distance. Approx 15kms.
